City of LaFollette Administrator shares more information

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- On Tuesday afternoon at the monthly meeting of the LaFollette City Council, Carolyn Lindsay spoke to the council about the year long issue she has had with cats at her home. Lindsay alleged that Mayor Scott Kitts promised her when he was campaigning that he would address the issue. She told the council after not receiving any help from the city that she and her family relocated the cats to a farm.

City Administrator Stan Foust told WLAF that the mayor was contacted by Lindsay, and he immediately reached out to the shelter. The following is the response from Shelter Director Patricia Siwinski to Kitts

Good Morning Scotty,

On Wednesday, June 11, you called inquiring as to the intake protocol and requesting to bring in some owned tame cats. I asked you to have Frankie Dople get with the owners and make a surrender appointment.  Frankie called and set up an appointment for two owned cats for Friday, June 20th.  Staff called a couple times to get the owner’s information from Frankie, but was never successful in obtaining that information.  We held the appointment for two tame owned cats with just Frankie’s name.

On Tuesday, June 17th, Frankie was at the shelter to drop off a bite-hold cat.  At that time he made an appointment to bring in a stray dog that is at Ivy Dale, I believe.  The appointment was for Friday, June 20th around noon.  He informed me that he doesn’t work on Fridays and I suggested possibly having someone else in the PD bring the dog by.  He stated he would try but would likely have to contact me Monday or Tuesday of this week.

We held both appointments for Friday, June 20th.  Both the owner of the cats and Frankie didn’t show or call to cancel the owner surrender cat appointment.  We filled those kennels on Saturday morning.

We didn’t hear from anyone from the PD about the black dog on Friday.  (I didn’t 100% expect to hear from anyone, but held the kennel anyway.)  We filled that kennel Friday evening.

I just wanted to let you know that the appointments were made and missed.

For them,

Patricia Siwinski

Director

Campbell County TN Animal Shelter
