LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- An approaching cold front takes temps into the 30s by daybreak Wednesday coupled with bitter winds. Here in Campbell County, expect light snow accumulations of 1/2 inch or less mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces as snowfall will be moderate to heavy at times before lunch. Snowfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected across the higher elevations, generally at or above 3000 feet here in Campbell County. Accumulations on roadways will be limited to the higher elevations.

Temperatures are falling during the morning hours into the 30s, except for 20s across the higher terrain. Rain changes to snow across Campbell County and the Plateau just before sunrise, then across the rest of southwest Virginia, northeast Tennessee, central Tennessee valley, and far east Tennessee Mountains during Wednesday morning.

If you plan on traveling across the higher terrain Wednesday, be prepared for slushy snow accumulations on area roadways. The snow will end by early afternoon with temperatures remaining chilly.
