Responding agencies pull an all nighter battling blaze

Firefighters battled fire, brisk conditions and temperatures in the 30s early Thursday.

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- With temperatures in the 30s, barely above freezing, and windy conditions, firefighters with the Caryville Volunteer Fire Department battled a truck fire on I-75. The call of an 18-wheeler on fire came in at 12:47 Thursday with the rig situated on the northbound exit ramp of Exit 141.

The tractor was saved, and there were no injuries.

The fire closed down that side of the exit and forced the closing of one northbound lane.

The rig was hauling dry goods, no HAZMAT materials. The trailer was destroyed, and the tractor was not damaged. There were no injuries.

Crews were on scene for hours.
