UT LIFESTAR marked 10 years in Campbell County on October 31

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Campbell County commissioners approved a proclamation on Monday evening in honor of “UT LIFESTAR’s 10 years in service in the county at the Jacksboro base.” Commissioner Rusty Orick said he wanted the commission to honor “all they had done” over the past decade.

UT LIFESTAR will be recognized Wednesday at its airport hanger at Stiner Airfield at 5 pm.

Other business approved on Monday evening was the designation of MBI as architectural design company for the “transfer station repair and rebuild.” A Department of Health contract was approved, as was the appointment of Commissioner Charles Baird to the County’s Regional Planning Commission.

Also approved was a mental health transportation grant for the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department.

Other business approved was a Right of way agreement in Jellico with the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreement between industrial development board and Campbell County was approved.

Monday’s commission meeting was recessed until Thursday evening at 6 pm, at which time, the commission will reconvene to discuss and vote on a designating “leftover AARPA funds”, some of which could go to the Campbell County Senior Center. According to county officials, the commission will know how much AARPA funds will be left over to go to projects after bids for a water line extension project are opened on Thursday. AARPA funds must be designated by the end of the year.  The East Tennessee Development District will be advising the commission on how leftover AARPA funds can be used. East Tennessee Development District representatives will be at the meeting again on Thursday evening to field additional questions. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-11/19/2024-6AM)
