The clinic is celebrating National Health Center Week

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- In honor of National Health Center Week, WLAF is recognizing Community Health of East Tennessee as Business of the Week.

What started as a grassroots nonprofit organization 44 years ago “has grown to be a service agency providing integral health and social services to Campbell County.

The clinic celebrated National Health Center Week on Thursday with area vendors set up inside the building.

The clinic is a cornerstone of the community and plays an integral role in the health and wellbeing of Campbell County citizens. 

According to CHET Chief Operating Officer (COO) Penny Etter, CHET saw close to 5000 patients last year. 

Community Health of East Tennessee is WLAF’s Business of the Week! The clinic celebrated National Health Center Week on Thursday.

“We offer in house lab and X-ray, medication assistance, primary care, pediatrics, endocrinology and are in the process of opening our dental clinic,” Etter said.

The fully staffed clinic provides much needed medical care to the community.

Area health vendors were set up inside Community Health of East Tennessee on Thursday in recognition of National Health Center Week.

“Our employees are more than co-workers; we are family. I am so thankful for our staff and their commitment to our patients,” Etter said,

Community Health of East Tennessee began in January of 1980 as TN Respiratory Clinics. The clinic was also called REACHES for a while. The clinic became a Federally Qualified Health Center in 2012, according to Etter.

CHET “accepts most insurance plans and offer a sliding fee scale for uninsured or underinsured patients.”

County Mayor Jack Lynch and Vice Mayor Randy Brown attended the event which recognized CHET employees and the difference they make in the community. 

Mayor Lynch said CHET is “the jewel of healthcare in Campbell County.”

“With clinics available in Health care such as Pediatrics, Endocrinology, Behavioral Health, Black lung, Recovery, and a VA clinic. Much available on a sliding scale.  Campbell County has a clinic we can all be proud of and provide care for our citizens,” Lynch said.
