JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Beginning of the year business made for a brief Board of Education meeting on Tuesday evening. BOE members approved the 2024-2025 budget, as well as the School Bus owner contract, along with several service agreements.

Also approved on the first and final reading was around 20 Campbell County BOE policies, some of which included policies on visitors to schools, bids and quotations, emergency preparedness plan, family life education, interscholastic athletics, code of conduct, zero tolerance, among others.

The hiring of Weeks, Ambrose & McDonald as the architect for the Campbell County High School weight room project was approved, as was the hiring of Michael Brady Inc. to assess the Campbell County High School HVAC addition.

In other business, a bid for Jellico High School Welding Classroom renovations was approved. Two vendors were solicited. GCE Construction had a bid of $494,500 and Skilled Services had a bid of $406,700. School board members went with the lower of two bids, awarding it to skilled Services.

Also, it was approved for solar panels to be declared as surplus; bids will be taken on their sale.

A Disciplinary Hearing Committee consisting of Josh Parker, Traci Chambers and Sandi Wilson was approved.

“That just aligns with our board policy, if someone is going to alternative school or a different placement, you take them before a committee and I’m not part of that committee, that way if they appeal, then it can come to me,” Director of Schools Jennifer Fields said.

Service agreements between Campbell County Schools and Ridgeview Behavioral Services STAR program was approved, as was a memorandum of agreement between the school and Ridgeview for the conduct of the project B.A.S.I.C. at Caryville Elementary School. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/10/2024-6AM)
