Larry Thornton age 65 of LaFollette departed this life on Saturday June 29th, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was a Christian and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Larry was in the first graduating class from the new Campbell County High School in 1976. He was a sports fan at heart and loved Coaching youth sports.

Larry was a welder at A&S Steel for 10 1/2 years. He spent the next 26 years as a building contractor of L & T Construction with business partner and friend Earl Lambert.

Larry is proceeded in death by his son, Steven “Thor” Thornton, mother Wanda Heatherly Thornton McNeil and father Lawrence Thornton. Father and Mother In-Law Don and Arline McGhee.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Donna McGhee Thornton; daughter Christy Thornton Carroll and husband Will; grandson Zeke (Steven) Carroll. Brothers Darryl Thornton (Janet); Greg Thornton (Shannon) sister in laws Brenda McGhee, Kay Rippy (Terry West) and nieces and nephew Meredith, Taylor and Tanner and a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday July 2, 2024, in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home (305 East Beech Street, LaFollette) with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 AM on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Martin Wilson Funeral Home to go in funeral procession to Bakers Forge Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment.
