Thelma L. Jones, 95, of Caryville, Tennessee, passed from this life to her heavenly home peaceably, Sunday morning, June 23rd at her home, surrounded by her seven loving daughters and extended family.

Thelma was born March 31, 1929 to Luther “Luke” and Dicie Wilson in Harlan, Kentucky and lived most of her life in the Clinchmore and Caryville communities. Having grown up in Clinchmore, Thelma there met and married the love of her life for 64 years, the late Reverend Estel Jones, in the years following his return from WW II combat service in the South Pacific.

Thelma had 7 Coal Miner’s daughters (many honorary 8th daughters), 13 grand-children, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

A woman of tremendous Christian faith, Thelma was a member of Central Baptist Church in Caryville. She served faithfully as a Pastor’s wife in several local area Baptist churches during their shared ministry.

Thelma is preceded in death by her parents Luther and Dicie Wilson, in laws Elmer and Monnie Jones, siblings Reva Mae Jones, Claude Wilson, Stanley Wilson, Christine Daugherty, Truman Wilson, Harold and Ralph Wilson, sons-in-law Glen Byrge and Jimmy Steven Moore.

Thelma is survived by, her daughters Kathy (The late Glen) Byrge of Jacksboro, Barbara (Bobby) Smith of Caryville, Debbie (The Late Jim Moore) of Jacksboro, Joyce (Alva) Monday of Caryville, Ruth “Ekie” (James) Longmars of Jacksboro, Elaine (E.L.) Morton of Jacksboro and Gwen (Jeff) Lobertini of Caryville, TN.

Grandchildren Angie McKamey, Scott Smith, Jimmy Brown, Nicholas Moore, Joshua Monday, Colin Monday, Nathaniel Longmars, Ethan Morton, Garrett Morton, Gabriel Morton, Corey Phillips, Logan Phillips and Olivia Lobertini.

Great Grandchildren Alex Montgomery, Sydney McKamey, Ryan Scott Smith, Karolyn, Kinsley and Kyleigh Brown, Kyler Monday, Jaxson Monday, Tenley Huddleston, Emery Longmars and Wesley Phillips.

Great-Great Grandchildren Porter, Amelia and Bellamy Montgomery.
