
Caryville Board moves through ordnances including one that ups garbage fee
CARYVILLE, TN. (WLAF)- On Monday evening, the Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen met with an agenda heavy on ordinances.
Ordinance No. 2024-05 amending the annual operating budget for 2023-24 fiscal year was approved. Next up was a first reading on Ordinance 2024-06 adopting the annual operating budget for 2024-25 fiscal year. Ordinance 2024-07 repealing Ordinance 2009-02 had a first reading. The ordinance removes the previous garbage collection fee of $8 and changes the fee to $12.
The last ordinance was Ordinance 2024-08 adopting an emergency rapid entry system had a first reading. The rapid entry system would allow immediate emergency access to firefighters, preventing any unnecessary damage to buildings in case of fire. The ordinance states that all new commercial buildings being constructed are to have an emergency rapid entry system and any existing commercial building that is being remodeled or renovated that requires a building permit, all educational buildings, building that contain hazardous materials and multi-family residential structures that have restricted access through locked doors and have a common corridor for access to living units.
Chris Oelgoetz with East Tennessee Development District discussed a Safe Streets for All Planning Grant with the board. The board didn’t take any action on the grant.
The janitorial services agreement was approved. The agreement was for $525 monthly previously and was changed to $600 monthly.
