Mary Atlas Monday, age 85, of LaFollette, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 6, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. Mary Atlas is now reunited with her husband of 65 years, Carl, her son, Marvin, her parents, Elmer “Bud” Carroll and Clara Lee Carroll as well as all her brothers, Vernon, Ralph, and Elmer “Tab”.
Mary leaves behind a family that will miss her deeply but finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace with Jesus. Mary was a lifetime member of Long Hollow Baptist Church where she was a good and faithful servant.
Mary Atlas is survived by her children, Mary Carlene Parker (Stanley), Kay Diane Bailey, Debra Lynn Pietszak (Robert), Danna Sue Monday Cleveland (Jim), and Charles Steven Monday (Jackie); 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren as well as her sister, Janice Gay Adkins (Robert) along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.
Mary Atlas always had a kind word and hug for those who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mary was fun-loving and young at heart, she was always ready for a game of Rook or Yahtzee. Mary enjoyed cooking for her family and her multitude of friends, she also loved to crochet. Mary Atlas took great pride in gifting each new family member with an afghan while she was able.
The family will receive friends Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 4 PM to 7 PM at Long Hollow Baptist Church with funeral services to follow at 7 PM with Rev. John Vanover and Rev. Matthew Howard officiating. Family and friends will meet at Martin Wilson Funeral Home on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 10:15 AM to go in a funeral procession to Monday Cemetery in Speedwell, TN for an 11 AM interment.
