Summer-like weather for unofficial start to summer; warm, muggy and stormy
LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Our Memorial Holiday weekend will not be a wash. However, it may feel that way a time or two as rounds of strong to severe storms roll through. Expect partly sunny, muggy days with highs in the lower 80s and nights in the 60s under mostly cloudy skies. Rain and thunderstorms will come and go.
Isolated to scattered showers and storms are expected Friday afternoon and evening. A few may be strong to severe. A risk for damaging winds and large hail exists with the strongest thunderstorms. Heavy downpours in association with the storms may cause localized flash flooding.
For Saturday through Thursday, there will be multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms moving through during the weekend and into Monday. Some of these storms may become strong to severe at times, with strong gusty winds and hail the primary threats. There may be a period with a low tornado threat as well sometime in the Sunday into Monday time frame. In addition, repeated or prolonged periods of heavy rainfall may produce localized flooding in a few locations. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 05/24/2024-6AM)
