CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN. (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- As we approach our high school graduation ceremonies, we welcome the involvement of community members and elected officials who wish to join us in celebrating this important milestone for our students. To ensure the focus remains on our graduates and their achievements, we have established specific guidelines based on the Tennessee Little Hatch Act regarding political activities during these events.

 1. Distribution of Materials: Elected officials and political figures may distribute free items, such as bottled water, to attendees outside the ceremony premises. However, it is crucial that this activity does not disrupt the event or detract from the celebratory atmosphere.

 2. Use of School Facilities: To maintain neutrality and ensure that school resources are used solely for educational purposes, the use of concession stands, classrooms, or any other school facilities for the storage or distribution of materials by politicians or their representatives is strictly prohibited.

 3. Employee Participation: In accordance with the Tennessee Little Hatch Act, school employees are prohibited from engaging in any form of political campaigning during school events or on school property. This includes the distribution of materials or other forms of active participation in political activities during graduation ceremonies.

 4. General Conduct: All guests, including political figures, are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that respects the significance of the graduation ceremony. Any activities that could be construed as campaigning should be kept separate from the event to preserve the integrity and focus on our students’ accomplishments.

We thank you for your cooperation and look forward to a dignified and memorable graduation ceremony.
