‘I am pleased the state board got this to us this week,’- Brandon Partin, Property Assessor

JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)-Campbell County property owners can breathe a sigh of relief. Tuesday afternoon, the state board of equalization released the preliminary, projected new certified tax rate for the county.

“The previous year it was 2.0659, this year it is projected to be 1.192,” according to Campbell County Property Assessor Brandon Partin.

This news comes as reappraisal notices were mailed out last week.

“In most cases, property taxes will go down,” Partin said.

Knowing the notices could be a source of concern for property owners, Partin had requested the state board of equalization return a projected rate as soon as possible.

“I am pleased the state board was able to get this to us this week,” he said.

On Monday, the property assessor’s office was busy with citizens who had questions about their new values. A malfunctioning phone line that only rang on the caller’s end contributed to the frustration of some trying to call the office.

“The phone line has been fixed and we are here if people have questions,” he said.

To help those who can’t come to the assessor’s office during the week, Partin will have his office open on a couple of Saturdays, April 13 and 20, from 8am until 11:30am.

Partin and his staff are assisting people with the new values. Anyone who wants to be heard by the county board of equalization on their value will have that opportunity the first 15 business days in June.

Appointments to go before the board will be taken the last week of May at the assessor’s office.

For questions about values or to schedule a hearing before the board, call 423.562.3201.
