GULF BREEZE, FL (WLAF) – Following the 38-35 defeat against Eastside High of Taylors, South Carolina, in day one of the Innisfree Hotels Beach Basketball Classic, the Lady Cougars were looking to bounce back with a win against the South Paulding Spartans of Douglasville, GA.
The defensive scruffle continued from day one of the tourney as the Lady Cougars held South Paulding to only seven points in the first. The Lady Cougars, thanks to some Carley Kitts long shots, led the Lady Spartans after the first quarter 10-7.
In the second quarter, the Orange-and-Blue defense kicked into another gear, only allowing the Lady Spartans to muster up two points. Campbell managed 8 points in the second quarter to head into the half with a 18-9 lead.

South Paulding would actually outscore Campbell in the third quarter. The Lady Spartans would tally 13 points opposed to Campbell’s 12 to cut the Lady Cougars’ lead to 30-22 after three.

Campbell’s starting five is being introduced on Thursday as Jayden Kitts heads out.
Unlike day one’s game, the Lady Cougars wouldn’t let this one slip away. Thanks to some big-time Lacey Pemberton buckets, the Orange-and-Blue hung on to defeat the Spartans 44-27, in a game where every Lady Cougar that made the trip to Florida saw the court.
The top scorer for Campbell for the second day in a row was Carley Kitts. Kitts knocked down 6 shots from behind the arc to score 18 points. Lacey Pemberton, your local realtor Gage Dople Player of the Game, was second in scoring with 10. Aleeah Woodson had six points, all coming from three point range, and Bella Lester and Saylor Hutcheson scored five points apiece.

WLAF’s Clayton Carroll calls action of the Lady Cougars on Thursday afternoon.
