JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Come Monday at 7:30am, who will it be to unlock the office, flip on the lights and fire up the coffee pot at the Campbell County Clerk & Master’s Office? I’m not sure. However, I do know that it won’t be Joan Pittman, because today is Joan’s last day on the job. After 33 years, the woman with the smiling face and pleasant personality is calling it a career.

For the first time in a long, long time, there’s a change in the staff at the clerk & master’s office which is quite uncommon. “It’s the first staff change here since I came in more than nine years ago, and even years before that,” said Clerk & Master Dennis Potter.

“It’s gone by fast,” said Pittman who started in March 1990.

“I knew about the party. However, I did not realize that it was going to be all this,” said Joan. The celebration was held last Friday afternoon at the courthouse.

The last time someone left the staff at the clerk & master’s office was so long ago no one can exactly remember when. Pittman’s served with three chancellors, Billy Joe White, Andy Tillman and Elizabeth Asbury, and two clerk and masters, Bill Archer and Potter.

“I’ve really enjoyed my job and helping people, the attorneys and others,” said Joan, who has handled chancery and probate over the years.

“I could brag on Joan all day. She’s such a wonderful person and is so good here in the office,” said Potter.

The staff has grown with Lisa Sanders coming onboard about five years after Pittman was hired. A short time later, Pam Bullock and Calvin Monday joined the staff. Amy Martin is stepping into Joan’s position.

“Joan says she just always wanted to be here that early, 7:30am. She opens the office, turns on the lights and brews the coffee. We’re sure gonna miss her,” said Potter. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/03/2023-6AM)
