At 4:46pm Saturday, the third call was for a brush fire threatening homes on Hueston Wood Lane off Flat Hollow Marina Road. This fire covered 31 acres, and 12 homes were saved. Assisting agencies included La Follette and Caryville Fire Departments and the Forestry Service.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Members of the Campbell County Rural Fire Service were pushed to the limit over the course of about six hours on Saturday from 4:21pm to 10:44pm.

Seven calls came in while the CCRFS handled five of them. The first call was to East Norris Point for power lines down that caused a brush fire.

Call number two was four minutes later at 4:25 for an out of control brush fire near Shanghai Marina.

At 4:46, the third call was for a brush fire threatening homes on Hueston Wood Lane off Flat Hollow Marina Road. This fire covered 31 acres, and 12 homes were saved. Assisting agencies included La Follette and Caryville Fire Departments and the Forestry Service.

This is one of the homes that was saved from fire on Saturday afternoon.

Less than three hours later at 7:29, firefighters with the CCRFS answered the call of power lines down and the woods on fire on Hiwassee Point.

This pick-up truck landed on its top in the 1400 block of South Highway 25W.

The fifth call was at 10:44 Saturday night for a one vehicle rollover wreck. The mishap was on South Highway 25W just north of La Follette in the 1400 block. There were injuries, and one patient was entrapped.

This fire covered 31 acres, and 12 homes were saved in the fire on Hueston Wood Lane off Flat Hollow Marina Road.
