JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) - It's Homecoming tonight at Campbell County High School when the Cougars host the Gibbs Eagles.  Festivities take place before the game at 6:50 pm.  WLAF has the live telecast.


Lovely’s still in the CCHS record book decades later

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – In 1983, Cougar Billy Lovely etched his name in the Campbell record book with a dazzling kick-off return for a touchdown.  After the big play, he hustled to the sideline for a traditional bear hug from his coach, Willard Mitchum, only to see him bellied up to the fence with his back to the field.  Mitchum turned around holding a hot dog and a pop asking “what happened?” 


Campbell County's active COVID-19 case count is 34

NASHVILLE, TN (WLAF) - As of Friday afternoon, the number of PCR positive tests for COVID-19 during the pandemic according to the Tennessee Department of Health is 454, and that includes 412 cases confirmed and probable in Campbell County (an increase of four since Thursday).  Of the cases, 375 are inactive/recovered while 34 patients are recovering and three patients have died.  There have been 9,981 PCR Negative Tests in Campbell County.


Campbell County Habitat for Humanity to share in $500,000 THDA grant

LaFollette, Tenn.  – Campbell County Habitat for Humanity today announced it will receive $15,500.00 in grant funding by Habitat for Humanity of Tennessee to build a new home in LaFollette.


New initiatives for long-term care facility residents

NASHVILLE, TN  (WLAF)  – The Tennessee Department of Health and Tennessee’s Unified Command Group  announced on Thursday three new initiatives to enhance the well-being and quality of life of Tennesseans in long-term health care facilities. These efforts include expanding options for visitation, relaxing restrictions for resident interactions within LTCFs and the formation of the Tennessee COVID-19 Long-Term Care Task Force.


Caryville home suffers extensive damage in morning fire

Green is crowned Homecoming Queen as Owls win

Volunteers needed for Saturday's clean-up on Norris Lake

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) - Powell Valley Marina is where volunteers will gather Saturday morning at 9 am for a trash and litter material clean-up of the lake and shoreline above and below Norris Lake at the marina.  The clean up runs until 1 pm.  Weather will be near perfect for Saturday's event.


Man admits to drinking, charged with DUI

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) - A Campbell County man admitted to driving in a reckless manner then went to jail.


THP answers the call for hurricane telecommunicators assistance

NASHVILLE, TN (WLAF) -  On Wednesday, September 16, Baldwin County, Alabama requested Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce (TERT) teams to augment staffing of their 911 Dispatch Center due to Hurricane Sally. The Tennessee Highway Patrol's (THP) Tennessee Advanced Communications Network (TACN) answered their call for assistance.

Community Prayer Gathering is set for Sat., Sept. 26

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) - All children should have a bed to sleep in; which is where Sleep in Heavenly Peace comes in. SHP is a nation wide non profit that builds  beds to provide to kids across the country, including locally here in Campbell County. Once a year SHP holds a nation wide movement called Bunks Across America where chapters of the organization all across the country hold "build days" to construct  as many beds as possible.
