Mayor Morton announces that a $600,000 grant is coming

JACKSBORO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) - In an email this morning, Campbell County Mayor E. L. Morton announced, "I am pleased to inform you that Campbell County has been awarded a $600,000 Brownfields assessment grant in partnership with Anderson and Scott Counties to provide Phase 1 Environmental Assessment for the RJ Corman Railroad that transits the southwest corner of the county, in your 4th District."

Jacksboro Middle schoolers place first in entrepreneur contest

Sixth graders Macey Miesel and Eden Reese were among the first place winners of the ESTEAM Pitch Series, an entrepreneur contest open to local middle- and high-school students in Appalachia.

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) - Two Jacksboro Middle schoolers placed first in the ESTEAM Pitch Series entrepreneur contest, winning $500 each. Sixth graders Macey Miesel and Eden Reese created their business idea Made-N-Memories to pitch to judges in a multi-county and state competition open to middle school and high school students. Erica Simpson, sixth grade English Language Arts (ELA) teacher, was their sponsor for the contest.

Commission goes from high to low; much spending in between

East LaFollette Pastor Zach Lloyd returns home after 7 month hospital stay

Zach Lloyd's homecoming has been in the making for going on a year.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) - Rarely in a lifetime do you get to witness a miracle or see "the power of prayer" embodied, but for the crowd gathered along the side of the street in front of IGA, there was no doubt what they were seeing was a miracle as Zach Lloyd was escorted home by local police and sheriff's deputies.

The coming home caravan stretched car after car as Zach Lloyd waved and his wife Sara drove.

Caryville could see business growth
