It was a packed courthouse for the 2023 delinquent property tax auction.

JACKSBORO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – As of Tue., May 7, 2024, 9:30am, HERE is the updated list of property that is on the Clerk & Masters auction block Friday, May 10, 9am, at the Chancery Courtroom of the Campbell County Courthouse.  “This property will be sold at auction for delinquent property taxes,” said Dennis Potter, Campbell County Clerk & Master. It’s for the year 2021 and any previous outstanding years, according to Potter.

“We accept cash or check at the end of the sale.  Participants may also use a credit card which includes a 4% fee,” said Lisa Sanders, Deputy Clerk for the Campbell County Clerk and Masters Office.

Strong to severe storm potential looms through Thursday

Slight risk of severe storms Tue.; damaging winds, hail main threats from the stronger storms

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Tuesday features a muggy, breezy day with more clouds than sun to go along with a high of 83. Several rounds of showers and storms are expected through Thursday. Some of these storms may become strong to severe this afternoon and evening with damaging winds and hail as the main threats. There is a slight risk of severe storms today.

One lane in each direction starts Mon. at Cove Lake bridges

Expect delays-traffic down to one lane in each direction at the Cove Lake bridges on the four lane

Repairs on all four bridges that span Cove Lake begin on the top decks on Monday morning.

CARYVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – The contractor,  Jones Brothers Contractors, for the bridge repair project on SR-9 /Hwy 25W-63 over Cove Lake at Caryville has progressed with substructure work under the bridges, and, with weather permitting, plans to begin Super Structure work on top of the bridges on Mon., May 13.

Bond reduced for Hill in fatal car accident

JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- A man indicted for vehicular homicide was granted a bail reduction on Monday.

Josh Hill, 30, LaFollette, was indicted earlier this year for a crash that claimed the life of 64-year-old Bill Baird in July 2023. CLICK HERE for related story.

Since the indictment in February, Hill has been jailed with a $200,000 bond.

His bond was reduced to $85,000 yesterday in criminal court.

Cougars eight-day spring practice begins this afternoon

That’s 3:15pm to 4:45pm everyday on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays through May 23

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – “We’ll be going strong on fundamentals these eight days we have for spring practice,” said new Campbell Coach Head Football Coach Mark Pemberton. The first of those eight days begins today on Reynolds Field.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County’s first Female Eagle Scout has taken wing.

 “… the path to Eagle for girls here in Campbell County has been laid. I am merely the first to make that journey, but without the trail you all have set, without the guiding light held by each of you, I may very well would have never started this trail and if I had, I most certainly would have gotten lost,” – Claire Matherly, Campbell County’s first female Eagle Scout said during her Eagle Ceremony on Sunday.

Campbell County CTE hosts award dinner

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – It was a full house for Monday evening’s Career & Technical Education dinner and awards ceremony in the Commons at Campbell County High School. Students and teachers from Campbell and Jellico High Schools were recognized as family and friends were in attendance.
