Joe Guy,  author of the La Follette Chronicles, was the guest speaker Thursday evening at the monthly meeting of the Campbell County Historical Society held at the former Catholic Church on East Central Avenue in La Follette.

Joe is a local home town boy that grew up in the Furnace Town area at the corner of East Hemlock and 4th Streets.   He left La Follette before 1964 and joined the U.S. Navy and stayed there for more than 21 years; spending a lot of time in Southern Italy.  Guy retired as a  Chief Radioman.

Joe’s second retirement was from his Financial Service Agency.  He knew he needed a way to get out from under his wife’s feet.

So,he decided to write a book. Joe started a series on Amazon called ” The La Follette Chronicles.”  The stories took place in and around La Follette and Southern Italy.  Some of the chronicles include local places like the Royal Pool Room  and other local places. The series of books is available on Amazon. Search with ” La Follette Chronicles ” into the Amazon search window.  It will bring up the available titles. There are currently four books, and a new one will be released at the end of the month. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/16/2018-6AM)
