JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- At last week’s workshop, County Commissioners “officially” declared a vacancy for the 4th district position that has been left with the passing of longtime Commissioner Sue Nance. A person is expected to be named at tonight’s six o’clock commission meeting to complete the remainder of Nance’s term which runs through next August.

County Commission Chairman Johnny Bruce asked for a motion if it was the pleasure of the body to fill the position next Monday night. Commissioner Goat Baird made the motion, which was approved unanimously.

County Attorney Joe Coker advised that “any person from the Fourth District can appear and nominate themselves for the vacant position, but only a commissioner can make an official nomination.” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-08/18/2025-6AM)
