
MAYNARDVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- On Monday, State Representative Dennis Powers received a “Making the Difference” award from the Union County School Board during a large gathering at Union County High School.

After a catered luncheon, Union County School Board Member Rebecca Locke read a list of achievements Powers had made for the Union County Schools, which included sponsoring a bill for the Tennessee Virtual Academy, another allowing them to participate in sporting activities and securing $10 million for Union County’s new TCAT/Walters State Community College.

In attendance were Union County Mayor Jason Bailey, Knoxville TCAT President Kelli Chaney, State Representative Dave Wright, Union County Director of Schools Greg Clay and many school board members, principals along with field representatives for State Senator Becky Massey, State Senator Jessie Seal and U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn.
