A NOTE FROM THE GRAND ON CENTRAL: “There is so much good going on in our community, and I want to share all this good with you every Monday here on WLAF in hopes that you will start your week in a grand way making each week a Grand Week,” said Olivia Lobertini, owner of The Grand on Central.

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Every September, the Campbell County High School Beta Club participates in ‘Purses with a Purpose’, a service project where members bring in gently used purses and toiletry items for the domestic violence shelter.

On Thursday, Liz White, from Community Health of East Tennessee’s Family Life Services (CHET) picked up the items from the Beta Club. More than 100 purses with hygiene products were collected for the project.

“We do this service project every September, and our kids made this year’s the biggest we have ever had. This was a total student driven initiative and I’m proud that they answer the call to help our community every time,” said CCHS’s Josh Parker.

According to White, who is the COO of CHET’s Family Life Services, these purses make a huge difference in a survivor’s life and are a sign of hope.

“Many survivors arrive at the shelter with little to nothing, and these beautiful purses, filled with practical and caring items, help restore a sense of hope. This project provides enough purses for us to keep on hand and pass out on the day that the survivor arrives at shelter. It means so much,” White said.

White also wanted to say, “thank you to the Campbell County High School students for reminding our residents that they are supported.”
