CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- On Monday afternoon, the Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen met in a special called meeting. The board had two items on the agenda.
The first was a second reading of Ordinance No. 2025-09, an ordinance to amend personnel policies regarding the work week definition. This item was removed from the agenda until a later date. The next item for approval was for the fire department to apply for the Tennessee Volunteer Firefighter Equipment and Training Grant. This item was approved.
After the special called meeting, the board met in a workshop session with Margaret Norris, Municipal Management Consultant from the Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS), to discuss the next steps in the Town Administrator position.
Norris began the workshop by asking the board why it wanted an administrator. Alderman Lloyd Lawson responded saying he would like to see additional businesses in the area. Alderman Vickie Heatherly responded that she feels an administrator would help the town move forward. Norris told the board some of the things the right administrator could do for the town would be more grants and improve efficiency in the town.
After some brief discussion, it was decided by the board it would interview the top five candidates via video for a first round interview. Each interview will last approximately 45 minutes with a set of predetermined questions. The interviews will be conducted on Oct. 30 and Nov. 3. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-10/21/2025-6AM)
