La Follette Firefighter Brad Young attacks a Wednesday morning fire on Hill Street, just off South Avenue.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The call of a passerby around 4:30 this morning quite likely may have saved a home and lives. “A passerby reports the back of a home is on fire in the 100 block of Hill Street,” said a La Follette 911 Dispatcher.

La Follette Fire’s “C” Shift was on the scene in just a couple of minutes. A large sized structure behind a two story home on Hill Street was fully involved when the first unit of three rolled up.

Firefighters Eric Mathias (left in photo above) and Brad Young from the first fire truck attacked the fire as other firefighters and units arrived. It was blustery with sprinkles of rain falling as firefighters fought the fire.

Three units along with an LFD pick-up truck driven by Captain Dusty Davis were on the scene within a couple of minutes.

Quick action by the LFD saved the home and another large structure, both within a few feet of each other. There were no injuries.

An LUB crew was called to the scene to assess a badly charred power pole.

All fire units cleared the scene at 6:19am. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/24/2024-6AM)
