JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Local singer/songwriter Carie Ferra Hale tried out for American Idol, not once but twice and made it to Hollywood with a Golden Ticket this past December. The Jacksboro native made the cut from thousands of others to get the chance to sing in Hollywood, fulfilling a life-long dream of hers as a musician.

Ferra Hale was invited to try out for American Idol the first time about six years ago after producers from the show saw a “silly video” of her singing to her dog.

She was invited to audition again by producers this past November. After making the trip to Nashville, Ferra Hale had several auditions in front of various producers, before finally having an audition in front of the judges and being presented with her Golden Ticket to Hollywood.

While in Hollywood, she was performing with around 150 other contestants all trying to make the cut. She said the talent of the other contestants was amazing and that it was a privilege to get to compete with them.

“It’s a lot of competition; there are thousands of people trying to get a Golden Ticket, so I’m very blessed to be part of that 150 that made it that far,” Ferra Hale said.

“Hollywood week” is an intense experience with long hours of filming and getting up early. The song you pick is crucial, so there’s always stress about that. It’s mentally and physically exhausting, but so much fun!” Ferra Hale said.

Singing has always been part of her life; she also plays the guitar and the ukulele and making this trip to Hollywood was a goal she had set for herself. Getting invited to audition for the show again six years later gave her a sense of pride that she was able to come back and “prove” herself as a musician.

“It was my goal, just to get the Golden Ticket and go to Hollywood. It was a once in a lifetime experience; I’m proud of myself,” Ferra Hale said.

She had never been to California before and said it was a “cool experience.”

Ferra Hale performs at various venues and events locally, including out at Chapman Hill Winery. She said she enjoys playing and singing all kinds of eclectic music, including Jazz, pop, country and more.

“I sing all genres; I grew up listening to Mo-town and stuff like that and I just picked up different genres,” Ferra Hale said.

She also said she could not have done any of this without the support from her husband Noah and her daughter Ellie.

“My husband and daughter have been a big part of this, and they continue to motivate and support me,” Ferra Hale said. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/01/2024-6AM)
