Rev. Alva Gene Daugherty, age 71 of Jacksboro passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he taught the Adult Sunday School Class, and sang regularly at Church.  He loved going to Church and serving the Lord.  Alva was a very kind person, a diligent prayer warrior, helped everyone when he knew there was a need, and had a special place in his heart for Children.  Preceded in death by Parents, John and Ethel Carroll Daugherty, and Brother, Johnny Sampson Daugherty.     

Survivors:  Wife of 51 years, Merretta Carroll Daugherty; Sisters, Bevra York and husband, Donnie, Dorothea “Dot” Daugherty, and Kathy Ittyerah and husband, Jacob.  Sister-in-Law, Deborah Ridenour and husband, Allen; Brothers-in-Law, Richard Carroll and wife, Lillian, and Benny Carroll and wife, Darlene; Special Brother-in-Law, Alvin Carroll.  Several Nieces Nephews, Cousins, other relatives and friends.      

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 1, 2024, from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home Chapel with Funeral Services beginning at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Ronnie “Bo” Freeman and Rev. Bruce Wallace officiating.  Interment to follow at Campbell Memorial Gardens.  Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of Rev. Alva Gene Daugherty.
