James Wendell Bailey, age 60 of LaFollette passed away on Thursday March 21, 2024.

Wendell was a former Campbell County Commissioner and Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy. He was a graduate of Campbell County High School, class of 1982.  He loved UT sports, NASCAR, mowing, gardening, traveling, working outdoors, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He served proudly in the US Navy aboard the USS Milwaukee.

Wendell is survived by his wife, Regina Bailey; parents, Elwood and Brenda Bailey; sons, Josh Bailey, Jessie Hornback and wife Whitney; daughters, Taylor Kidwell and husband Drew, Hope Douglas and husband Michael, Cassandra Hornback, Kimberly Melton and husband Matt; brother, Tim Bailey; sister, Dianna Evans and husband Scott; grandchildren, Alexa, Charlotte, Michael, Raylan, Parker, Emma Jean, Hazel, Taylor, Ryleigh, Maddie to be born on Tuesday, and Baby Kidwell who is on the way; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM on Monday, March 25, 2024, in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home, 305 E. Beech Street, LaFollette, with the funeral service to follow at 1 PM with Rev. David Hicks officiating. Interment to follow at Baker’s Forge Cemetery where military honors will be given by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
