LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Lafollette Public Works (LPW) was on the job early Monday morning at the corner of East Beech and South 16th streets. The road collapsed at that intersection starting as sink hole on South 16th Street a few days ago and continues to expand.

LPW closed down that section of East Beech Street to thru traffic once the sink hole began to work toward East Beech Street.

LPW Director Casey Boshears is operating the excavator removing the loose material.

LPW Director Casey Boshears said they have a plan to repair the hole, but it has to be cleared of all the loose material before the operation to fill the hole can begin. They must work down to solid ground, according to Boshears.

An overhead view of the collapsed section, and this shot shows some of the other utility lines.

This small section of East Beech and South 16th Streets maybe closed for a few days until the crew can get this collapsed section repaired.

Work to remove the loose material is slow due to other utility lines in the hole.
