LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – “I want the community to know how thankful I am, and that I have enjoyed my time here,” said Dr. E.G. Cline, marking his 50th year in La Follette today.

Cline has always had a connection to WLAF from personal associations to having his songs played on the air here.

“Bill Waddell, WLAF’s owner, in his days as a church pastor, performed the wedding ceremony for Sarah and me 43 years ago. Ann Rutherford, who now works at WLAF, was my first secretary. Big Josh Etter, WLAF’s morning man, and I attended church to together and sang together in church,” said Cline.

“In working with Dr. Cline in his office, I found him to be a very caring doctor. He listened to his patients and took time for them,” said Rutherford.

“My philosophy has been a light heartened/seriousness approach. I see you as a person and take your problem seriously and take care of you. Patients have appreciated that,” said Cline.

Cline sums himself up from a song he wrote and recorded and is still played on WLAF, “In Spite of Myself.” “God has blessed me in spite of myself,” said Cline. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/12/2024-6AM)
