Dorothy Boshears Cooper, age 94, of Sweetwater, TN Head of the Creek Community went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2024, at Woods Village Nursing Home in Sweetwater. Dorothy was born January 23, 1930, in Campbell County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Riley and Lola Boshears, her brother Joe Riley Jr., her sister, Aileen Blakley, her brothers, Carl (Bud) Boshears, Dougie Boshears of Campbell Co, TN. Also, by the father of her children Ralph Cooper. Her son Bobby Cooper, her grandsons Richard Brown and Ian Cooper, and her great-grandson Matthew Hutchinson. She was a loving wife, mother, nanny, and great-grandmother.

Surviving children include Pat Brown (Allen) of Sweetwater, Pam Salmon (Pat) of Starkville, MS, Sue Stockton (Billy-passed) of Sweetwater, daughter-in-law Pam Cooper of Sweetwater, and Chuck Cooper of Sweetwater. Her brothers Melvin (Leora)Boshears and Donnie Boshears of Campbell Co. Her sister Shirley Ann Boshears also of Campbell Co. Survived by her grandchildren Rusty Brown (Melinda) of South Carolina, Audrey Hutchinson (Pat) of Mississippi, Kelly Cash of Knoxville, Josh Stockton (Juli) of Sweetwater, Candice Frank of Sweetwater, Drew Stockton (Laura) of Sweetwater, Courtney Davis of Sweetwater, and Nate Cooper (Ashleigh) of Cleveland. Also, by 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She spent her whole life dedicated to raising her children and grandchildren. Everyone knows her as Nanny Dot and considers her as loving, caring, and a friend. She was a beloved resident at Wood Village Nursing Home where she had many friends and enjoyed playing games. Her smile and demeanor were contagious. She was a great cook and loved to read, sew, and go to yard sales. She loved the Lord and was of the Baptist faith.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the Sweetwater Memory Chapel, with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm. The interment will be on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Sweetwater Memorial Park. Her grandson Rev. Drew Stockton will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the name of their former patient (grandson) Matthew Hutchinson.
