LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – For me, it was School Bus 22, and Leon Miller was the driver. Do you remember your bus number? And your school bus driver’s name?

Today is Bus Driver Appreciation Day! We all say “thank you” to you, our bus drivers, on this special day.

About 7:40 each school day morning, Leon and Bus 22 would clear the hill at Central and 9th and pull onto the east corner of La Follette Junior High, and we’d load up. Little did I know, until a few years later, that Leon started his route at 6am and was awake getting ready long before that. He’d spend the day running Leon’s Esso, and then make that run in reverse in the afternoons.

Leon’s been gone for a while, but he’s still a special part of my school day memories. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/21/2024-6AM)

    1. Thanks Jim for this article. It’s always nice hearing fond memories of family members. I appreciate it and I’m sure all of his family does especially Mike and his kids. I know my Uncle Leon would have appreciated it also. He was a good man.
