OLIVER SPRINGS, TN (WLAF) – Yes, Jellico did go a perfect 8 & 0 during its regular season run through the District 3-A schedule, a program first. However, the Blue Devils want a district tournament championship to go along with their regular season title, and the path to that tourney championship runs through Oliver Springs. The journey begins tonight at eight o’clock on the Bobcats home court.

“It presents a challenge. Hopefully, our kids respond and play well,” said Jellico Coach Mike Reynolds. Jellico won both regular season meetings with Oliver Springs serving as the Bobcats only two district losses.

Jellico is 17 & 10 (8 & 0) while Oliver Springs is 15 & 12 (6 & 2). Jellico won 59-52 at Oliver Springs on Dec. 15 while at Lindsay Gym, the Blue Devils claimed an 88-71 victory on Jan. 30. Jellico has won 8 of its last 10 games with Oliver Springs claiming six wins over its last 10 contests.

Jellico is at full speed, according to Coach Reynolds. The Blue Devils were without two starters in Friday’s 88-59 semi-final win over Wartburg. “John Zecchini and Caleb Rose were out with the flu and are ready to go tonight,” said Reynolds.

Tip time is 8pm. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/20/2024-6AM)
