Gary Lynn Daugherty, age 73, born on October 4th, 1950, peacefully passed away on February 16, 2024. He was the beloved husband of 49 years to his devoted wife. Gary was the cherished son of Earl and Nan Daugherty. Gary proudly served his country as a veteran of the Army during the Vietnam War, demonstrating his bravery and commitment to his nation. In his leisure time, Gary found solace and joy in nurturing his garden, cultivating beautiful flowers when he was able. He also enjoyed the thrill of golf and the freedom of riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, embracing the open road. Above all, Gary’s heart belonged to his family. He treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding immense joy and fulfillment in their presence. Gary Lynn Daugherty will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of love, courage, and devotion.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by daughter, Tonya Daugherty Ayers; and sister, Mary Lou Raby.

He is survived by: wife, Betty Poston Daugherty; son, Terry Rice; grandchildren, Megan Sprouse and fiancé Josh Wogtech, Laura Brugman and husband Adam, Luke Ayers and wife Sara, and Jacob Scudder; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Katelynn, Alanna, Parker, and Taylan; best friend, Gary Leach; sister, Charlotte Wilson and husband Lindell; brothers, Larry Daugherty and wife Pat, and Roger Daugherty; several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Leach Family Funeral Home and Cremation on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 12-2pm with a graveside service to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery with Pastor Ronnie Poston officiating and full military honors presented by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
