LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Traffic slowdowns began early on this Wednesday. At 5:17am, a pick-up truck wrecked on Jellico Highway, and a few minutes later, a call of cattle in the road on Old Middlesboro Highway was reported.

UPDATE: The wrecker assisting the pick-up truck has slid off Jellico Highway and over the embankment with the pick-up in tow. Another wrecker is on its way to assist. Jellico Highway is temporarily shut down as a result. (6:20AM)

At 7:20am, there was a minor wreck on South Avenue in La Follette. It happened in front of the former Poor Boy’s Restaurant across from Gamble Motors. No one was injured.

From all indications, the pick-up truck hit a patch of black ice and spun off the road. The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office and EMS responded. The wreck is a couple of miles north of La Follette.

The truck ended up partially off Jellico Highway on the northbound side.

Cattle, around 30, are said to be in the road on Old Middlesboro Highway at Bethlehem Road. That’s about a mile east of Valley View School. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/14/2024-6AM-UPDATED 8AM)
