Sharon Williams Murphy, 68, of Baxter, Ky, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024 following a long illness. She was born in Harlan, Ky on June 17, 1955. She was a registered nurse for over 30 years working in variety of administrative roles, including the last 20 years as a nurse consultant for the state of Kentucky. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and nanny who left a lasting impression on everyone she met with her warm personality and the love she had for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Mary Pack Williams, a brother, Otis Williams Jr, and brother-in-law Lawnie Penny.

She is survived by her loving sons, Johnny Murphy and wife Tara, and Donald D. Murphy and wife Amy.

Her grandchildren, Cody Murphy, Meghan Murphy, Marcus Murphy, Riley Murphy and fiancée Kaley Hall, Ansley Murphy and Aiden Murphy and one great grandson, Jackson Issac Clark Murphy.

Three sisters, Debbie Horne and husband James,

Kathy Wilder and husband Steve, and Charlotte Penny.

Sharon is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and cousins left to mourn her passing.

The family wishes to thank the staff and administration of Tri-Cities Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the care and compassion shown during Sharon’s illness.

Family will receive friends 1-3 PM Monday, January 22 at Cross-Smith Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 3 PM Cross-Smith Chapel, Rev. Bill Braden officiating. Interment to follow service at Powell Valley Cemetery.
