CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN. (WLAF)- The need to reduce the number on the thermostat is over.

“The request has been lifted for power reduction,” said LaFollette Utilites Board General Manager Kenny Baird. “It was lifted about an hour ago.”

Overall, the LUB system “did very well” with only a few areas reporting a power loss. Most of outages came at the “end of the system,” Baird said.

“We had no widespread outages,” he said.

Crews were working during this cold weather to prevent outages and will be in “emergency operations mode” tonight and into the weekend. This means crews will be at the LUB offices ready to respond if problems arise as the next wave of cold weather arrives in the area this weekend.

“Time is of the essence” when a power failure occurs in extreme weather conditions. “The quicker you get to it, the easier it is to fix,” according to Baird.

“We will be manning the fort,” Baird said.
