CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Last night the Town of Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen met with a short agenda.

Mayor Bobby Stooksbury announced the town has received a $676,000 grant to be used for constructing restrooms at the new Caryville Cares Playground.

First on the agenda was the announcement of the Christmas Light Contest winners, first place went to Martha Tackett, the lone applicant.  

The board approved paying an invoice from IRTEC for $6,500. The invoice was for professional services for survey and technical support regarding United Rare Earths boundary with topography for 38.96 acres at the Erschel Collins Industrial Park.

The board approved hiring Cheyenne Baird full-time in the fire department. She is the first full-time female fighter for the department.

Highland Communications sent the town a letter about requesting permission to use the right of ways to install line on poles that belong to LaFollette Utilities Board and AT&T. The board agreed for Stooksbury to sign the letter granting permission.

Caryville Jacksboro Utilities Commission (CJUC) had two items on the agenda. Both items were granting permission for the town to be the lead applicant on applying for both grants. The first was a lead service line inventory grant. The second was for the CJUC Asset Management Plan (AMP) Grant for water distribution system and the sewer collection system.
