LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The City of La Follette will hold its regular monthly meeting today at 5:30pm at city hall. Below is the story from last week’s workshop.

The City of LaFollette City Council met on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 27 in workshop session.

First on the agenda was a discussion with Deborah Hamblin Verna who was standing in for her brother Hank Hamblin about a sidewalk on Depot Street. City Administrator Stan Foust told her that Hamblin’s plan had been approved, and he would need to speak with Public Works Director Casey Boshears about how to proceed. Next up was a discussion about amending the Public Records Policy that adds four records custodians. Next week the council will vote on allocating a maximum of $15,000 for debris removal from demolition projects.

In police department business, the council will vote on three items at next week’s meeting beginning with the promotion of Dillion Marney to a full time patrol officer effective Jan. 13 at a salary of $36,664.778. Next is the approval of donated sick time to Michael Satakowski. The last item was a discussion on purchasing three Chevrolet Tahoe’s for the police department. The police department has all funds needed for one Tahoe, but they are $20,000 short on the other two.

In final business was Ordinance 2024-01 amending the personnel policy pertaining to the Pump Act and Tennessee Pregnant Workers. This ordinance will ensure that nursing mothers are accommodated as well as expectant mothers. Resolution 2024-01 authorizing the City of LaFollette to participate in the PEP Risk Management Pool (Cyber Security) Matching Grant Program will both be on next week’s agenda for a vote.
