JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Jellico High School Football team was recognized at Tuesday’s Campbell County Board of Education meeting for its “outstanding” season, according to BOE chairman Steve Morgan.

“They had a great year; they finished 7 and 4 and lost in overtime at the playoffs. Every time I saw them play, their efforts were outstanding,” Morgan said.

Football Coach Brent Peel said the guys “had put in so much work over the season.”

“These awards are all about them; we don’t get coach or staff of the year without them and all their hard work,” Peel said.

He told board members he had a big group this past season with 38 players.

“It takes everyone working together to get these awards. They deserve every bit of it; I’m proud of them,” Peel said.

Director of Schools Jennifer Fields and all school board members congratulated the team on their efforts and awards.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/13/2023-6AM)
