LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Yesterday afternoon, the LaFollette City Council met and announced the most improved property clean up winners for Nov. and Dec., the winners were Cody Stanaford and Jennifer Molly.

Mayor Cliff Jennings praised the LaFollette Police Department for its increased efforts since the monthly workshop.

In administrative matters, the employee health insurance renewal was approved. The approval of $2,150 for a historical marker at the Fleet Building was on the agenda. City Administrator Stan Foust recommended the council wait on voting on the issue until the fate of the building is known.

Resolution 2023-22 amending the 2023-24 budget was approved.

The fire department will soon have a new rescue truck after the council approved a bid for $219,550 from Southeast Apparatus.

In the public works department, the council approved reallocating $20,000 of capital outlay funds for a snowplow and salt spreader.

In final business the council accepted a bid from Douglas Heating and Air for an HVAC system for the metal building on Depot Street, behind the Main Street Shell.

The beer board met following the regular monthly meeting and approved 24 beer license renewals. Those license were approved for The Back Door Café, Campbell Tobacco and Beer, Corner Market, CVS, Dolgen Corp/Dollar General Store, El Charro Mexican Grill, El Pueblito, Family Dollar Store, Food City, Food Lion, GPM Southeast/Bread Box, LaFollette Shell Gas Station, Los Rifles, LLC, Main Street Shell, Main Street Tobacco and Beer, Murphy Oil, Ninja Grill and Sushi, Quick Shop, Quick Stop, Sideline Grille, LLC, Tobacco Mercantile #3, Walgreen Co., Weigel’s Stores, Inc., and Zoyal Market.
