Campbell goes to 7 & 0 with Halls ahead at home on Tuesday to open the district slate

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Jitters ruled the first minute of the game Friday night for Campbell and visiting Anderson as each team had two turnovers a piece before Lady Cougar Saylor Hutcheson drained a three.

Anderson knotted the game at three, and then Campbell tightened its defense and took off with its offense scoring 30 first half points. Eighteen of those points came beyond the arc while Anderson managed only 14 points, five in the last 10 minutes of the half.

A Preslee Chapman steal and lay in at the first quarter horn further lifted Campbell’s momentum. Chapman’s two to end the quarter was followed by a three to begin the second quarter from Carley Kitts.

It was 19-9 after one quarter, and then it was an 11 to 5 second quarter. The halftime score was 30-14 in favor of Campbell. The Lady Cougars largest lead came at 30-10, and Anderson did not have a first half scoring edge.

The Lady Cougars picked up where they left off in the first half as Hutch ripped the ropes for a three to start the second half just like she did to open Campbell’s scoring in the first quarter.  It was an 18-14 third quarter in Campbell’s favor.

Reagan Davis started the fourth quarter with two free throws followed by a three on the same trip, and then Davis added another three with eight straight points to open the fourth quarter. The Lady Cougars also won the final frame 15-12.

Campbell was 15 of 19 from the stripe and nailed 13 threes. Carley Kitts led three double-figure scorers with 17 while Hutcheson tallied 11, and ten points came from Bella Lester. Reagan Davis scored nine followed by six from Lacey Pemberton and four each from Preslee Chapman and Jayden Kitts.

The final score of 63-40 matched Campbell’s largest lead of 23. Initially, the Lady Cougars were up 42-19 for their first of three 23-point leads.
