NASHVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – On November 6, State Senator Ken Yager brought the concerns of Campbell County citizens about the plan of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) to replace the swimming pool at Cove Lake State Park with a playground.

“Many citizens have expressed valid concerns about the need to diversify the recreational activities outside of playgrounds at Cove Lake State Park,” said Yager. “The suggestions made by my constituents are reasonable and worthy of consideration. I have followed up with Commissioner Greer Tidwell, Jr. to ensure TDEC adequately considers and addresses the wishes of the community.”

Yager wrote a letter to TDEC Commissioner Tidwell to relay the concerns of citizens.

“The overwhelming suggestions of my constituents would be if the area would be used to develop a sports complex for sports so tennis, basketball, pickle ball, volleyball, horseshoes and other sporting activities could occur,” Yager wrote in the letter.

Yager has a meeting set with the Commissioner for the first of the year to discuss this issue further. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/21/2023-6AM)
