JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – A 9 to 2 run by the Campbell Lady Cougars pulled the Orange-n-Blue even at 11 with visiting Union late in the first quarter. That spurt came after the quick-start Patriots jumped out to leads of 6-0 and 8-3.
Union was leading after the first quarter, 16-14, as Campbell pulled in front at intermission by three at 30-27. Through three quarters, the Lady Cougars were up 48-40 before posting its most points in a quarter on the night at 19 in the final frame. Union, now 1 & 1, knocked down a three at the final horn to draw closer in the 67-54 final in favor of Campbell (2 & 0).
Carley Kitts poured through 19 second half points to lead Campbell with 23 as Lacey Pemberton finished with 17 followed by Reagan Davis’ 11. Eight points came from Saylor Hutchison, four from Bella Lester, three from Preslee Chapman, the first varsity points for the freshman, and Destiny Rutherford added one. Jayden Kitts and Reagan Stanfill played and did not score.
