LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Teachers make a difference in their students’ lives each and every day. For many students, having a teacher who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that teacher who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hard working educators with a weekly feature.

This week’s featured teacher is Stephanie White. She is a speech Language Pathologist at LaFollette Elementary School and has been teaching for 27 years.

White is from LaFollette and was “born and raised” here.

Stephanie White is Eagle Tire Pros teacher of the week. She is a speech Language Pathologist at LaFollette Elementary School

She attended East LaFollette Elementary School, LaFollette Middle School and Campbell County High School.

She then went on to East Tennessee State University, the University of the Cumberlands and TSU. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Communicative Disorders at ETSU, a M.A. in Education at the University of the Cumberlands and a M.S. in Speech Language Pathology at TSU.

White said she loves being a Speech Language Pathologist and that it was her own speech teacher Vanessa Milhorne, who inspired her to go into speech pathology.

“I understand how difficult it is to have a communication problem and can easily relate to my students. I love working with the students in small groups, getting to know them better, seeing them make progress, and overcoming their disability,” White said.

When she’s not working, she enjoys going to church, singing, reading and spending time with her family and friends watching movies and playing games.

She also enjoys her interactions with her colleagues.

“I am blessed to work with some of the best speech pathologists and teachers in the county. They are more like family than co-workers,” White said.

White also said it was an honor to be nominated as a teacher of the week.
