LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Little Elizabeth Faith Patty got a huge surprise gardening this year when she saw how big her pumpkins grew!

She and her parents Nathan and Renee Patty, along with her brother Andrew bought the seeds at the local Dollar General store and thought they were just going to be normal sized pumpkins; but they just kept growing bigger. Some of her pumpkins are now bigger than her.

Her largest pumpkin tips the scales at a whopping 150 pounds!

Growing a 150 pound pumpkin was not quite Elizabeth Patty’s original thought when she planted pumpkin seeds, but that’s how it turned out.

Elizabeth is 12 years old and is in the seventh grade at LaFollette Middle School.

“My counselor Linda Prim at LaFollette Middle School encouraged me to farm and would see me helping my grandmother Jean Patty in the garden,” Elizabeth Patty said.

Her parents said they were proud of Elizabeth and her gardening skills.

“I got the pumpkin seeds from the Dollar General Store, and it’s grew bigger than I thought it would. I love to do the  garden and grow the pumpkins. My biggest pumpkin is 150 pounds. I am planning to have more pumpkins and bigger pumpkins next year,” Elizabeth said.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/22/2023-6AM)
