LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Imperial Reading Corporation’s Plant Of The Year in 1971 was the Lafollette Plant; known as the shirt factory to most folks around here.

Some of you may have worked at the shirt factory, many of you probably know someone who worked there. At one time it was the largest employer in this area. This image is of course from the new factory building. The factory moved in 1965 to this location.

In the downtown location there was no cafeteria, and at noon, employees scrambled to their favorite eatery for lunch. For many years the Lafollette High School later the Lafollette Jr High released their students for lunch about the same time. The school had no cafeteria so the kids made their way to their favorite place in town or ate at the West Lafollette Elementary School Cafeteria.
