JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Town of Jacksboro voted to not have any additional billboards within the town at last Thursday’s regular monthly meeting. The board voted to replace the guardrail on Liberty Street, because the current guardrail is damaged.

The fire department had several items on the agenda beginning with purchasing turnout gear for $15,800. The board approved replacing the motor in the fire department pick-up truck. The replacement will cost between $7,000 and $10,000; the work will be done by Lyk-Nu Auto Collison and Service Center.  The final item was approving the purchase of a desktop computer for the fire department.

In police business, the board approved the purchase of a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado for $48,578.60. The board approved declaring a 2015 Dodge Durango and 2007 Jeep Liberty as surplus so they can be sold at the county auction. Jeff Allen, Jesse Ferguson and Casey Geisler were approved as auxiliary police officers.

The board voted to replace the current town attorney Steve Hurst with Jeffery Coller. Ordinance 131 had a first reading; the ordinance increases court cost $100.
