CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – A legal service agreement with the Town of Caryville’s Attorney was first on the agenda at last night’s meeting. Town Attorney Adam Bullock spoke with the board last month about raising the amount of his monthly agreement with the town. He also requested that he not be required to attend every board meeting. The board tabled the discussion last month due to the mayor and Aldermen Lloyd Lawson being absent. Last night the board agreed to the terms of the new agreement.

Resolution 2023-05 naming the Caryville Cares Playground to Caryville Cares Playground at Wheeler Station was not passed, Aldermen Eric Jones, Aldermen Lloyd Lawson and Aldermen Vickie Heatherly voted “no” on the resolution, Aldermen Patrick Pebley, Aldermen Josh Monday and Mayor Bobby Stooksbury voted “yes” on the resolution, Aldermen Beth Lawson was absent. Due to the tie vote, the motion failed.

A bid for the Violent Crime Grant enclosed trailer with a generator and heat and air conditioning was approved from All State Trailer for $15,499. The remaining items, fuming chamber, helmets, plate vests, stop sticks and tasers will be purchased with the remaining grant money.

The public works department had two items on the agenda. The board agreed to start bidding for a F-550 Dump Truck and dump bed. The next item was a 36’ ditching bucket for the backhoe, the board approved the purchase.

Resolution 2023-04 for a capital outlay note for $300,000 for upcoming paving was approved. The board decided to borrow the paving money from Builtwell Bank who had the best interest rate and terms.  Resolution 2023-06 to apply for a property conservation grant was approved, this grant is done yearly.
