James “Mack” Thompson, age 84 of LaFollette, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at his home.  Mack was born on November 6, 1938, to the late Alec Thompson and Cleo Myrtle (Sivils) Thompson. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, collecting firewood, listening to the trading post, and preaching.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by the mother of his children Delores (Broyles) Thompson; son David Thompson; daughter-in-law Sherrie (Madron) Thompson; brothers Bill, Joe, and Paul Thompson.

Mack is survived by his sons Jimmy Thompson and fiancé Alice Miller of LaFollette and Travis Thompson and wife Jamie of Newport; daughter Kathyrn Woods and husband Bill; daughter-in-law Galia (Goins) Thompson of LaFollette; brother Doug Thompson of LaFollette; sisters Nellie Johnson of Lafollette and Mary Ann Willoughby of Jacksboro; 12 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, September 8, 2023, in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Danny Wilson officiating. Family and friends will meet at 9:15 AM on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home to go in funeral procession to Baker’s Forge Cemetery for a 10:00 AM internment.
